And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not loose heart.
Our most important opportunities
Sonshine Ministries is humbled to continue to receive recognition as a model ministry and a place of excellence in Tanzania. This recognition inspires us to continue to lead with best practices in land management, self-sufficiency, and the intake and care of abandoned children suffering with illnesses, poverty and lack. Thank you for taking the time to review our current, most important projects.
Land Erosion Mitigation
In 2017, through a kind donor, Sonshine was able to hire a contractor to design and install an innovative trench to aid in diverting significant water runoff from harming the bore hole, the main source of water, crops, vegetation, and land during the rainy season. The volume of diverted runoff is so significant each year, we need to reinforce the end of the trench to assure for optimum land area for adding more children's homes in the future.
Key steps to complete this project
Purchase materials to create 12, critical gabions ($3000)
Hire contractor to build and install gabions ($1000)
Welcoming More Children
When staff and children were asked about their biggest needs within the ministry, they responded, “Please bring more children.” If this is the response, something is working well in our love and care.
To best serve this mission, rooms need to be readied, staff need to be prepared, and supplies need to be gathered. And, a required first step is to complete social investigations. Our goal is to grow Sonshine’s family to 80 children by the end of 2025. The funds raised will help us complete the following.
Acquire bedding, clothing, and towels ($100/child)
Buy hygiene products, vitamins, and medicine ($50/child)
Hire and train staffing in Sonshine love ($500/hire)
Grading the Frontage Road
A bumpy, dirt road that runs for 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) from the highway leads to the Sonshine property in King’ori. One resourceful but tedious method of patching potholes involves a periodic truck dump of the byproduct of a nearby gypsum factory which is then carried by bucket and wheelbarrow for the filling of the worst spots. Although this temporarily “fills” pits, rain creates a slippery mess restricting the Sonshine bus and vehicles from safely coming and going.
The preferred solution for safety and wiser care of vehicles is to grade the dirt road, apply properly crushed gravel in key areas, and add a few reinforced bridges where the need is most critical. Even during the dryest weather, the need to complete this project is obvious when traveling in the bus or van.
Testimonials
WE LISTEN WE CARE WE ACT WE LOVE
The dedication and the work of team Sonshine is amazing.
I support a child with Sonshine because they have proven to do what they say they will do.
The leadership and staff have one main objective, to provide the very best environment for the children who live there.

A Sonshine donor
This ministry does what a lot of other organizations should have been doing years ago. It is great that Sonshine exists.
They are responsive to the needs of the children, the staff and the donors. Their team not only gives care and assistance, they bring love, hope and joy to kids who have never experienced any of those things ever before.

Sonshine has been a partner with Manyota English Immersion School for 4 years and we have always been delighted with our friendship. They continue to contribute to our school, and we count on their help and guidance many times when making critical decisions for our school.
