Sonshine Shines Bright at ACRO Bonanza
The Sonshine children shined brightly at a recent Bonanza hosted by Arusha Child Rights Organization (ACRO). The special event was an inaugural, two-day event to bring children from children’s homes together, build relationships, and showcase their talents. It is the vision of ACRO to see "every child in the Arusha and Manyara regions grow up in a secure and loving environment, with their rights respected and protected." Sonshine is blessed to have two outstanding Sonshine children serving in leadership roles for the organization – Grace and Samson. They not only represent Sonshine, but they also represent all the children from children’s homes in the area. Grace and Samson were specifically selected for such a purpose.
Throughout the event, all of the Sonshine children behaved very well and were recognized for their character and abilities. The Sonshine staff felt very proud. Pictured above is Samson who won first place in a challenging, jump rope, race competition. The success of Samson is not surprising. He has had years of speed, strength, and agility training, running alongside his Sonshine siblings at the Sonshine property helping them learn how to ride bikes and scooters while also frequently bounding on and off the school bus blessing his Sonshine brothers and sisters with fun, loving, blessing taps on their heads. We are so grateful for the supporters of Sonshine who are helping raise up Godly, world-changing leaders. Together, we are making a tremendous impact every day in every way.
Reaching Ruvuma
In June, four Sonshine family members participated with a bigger team in a strategically planned, 14-day outreach mission trip to the southern Tanzania region of Ruvuma. The Sonshine participants were Sonshine young adults Neema and Joshua along with Mary (head matron) and Shigela (music teacher). The drive from Arusha to Ruvuma is 24 hours - about the same distance and time it would take to drive on back-roads through Washington, Oregon, and California from the US/Canada border to the US /Mexico border. The area of Ruvuma visited is a very unreached area that shows the long-term effect of superstition, witchcraft, and false religion. A key objective of the mission trip was to help local church workers reach the lost with the gospel through a 7-day crusade followed by 7-days of house-to-house, street-by-street, personal evangelism. This objective was met. The team was blessed and the team was a great blessing.
Upon return to Sonshine, the excited and deeply impacted missionaries shared testimonies about the many people they met who had never heard of Jesus or His saving grace. Each team member mentioned the heart-wrenching experience they had encountering children as young as 5 being subjected to the abuse that is part of the spiritual darkness in the area. God's love and power prevailed. The trip was life-changing, and the team has even greater motivation and determination to see the nation of Tanzania transformed by the power of the gospel through God’s love.

Healed by Jesus
(A Special Moment shared by Mary)
"During our house-to-house gospel outreach, our team met a Muslim mother outside her home. After sharing the love of God with he, we asked if there was anyone sick in her home so that we could pray with them and Jesus can heal the person. The mother said she had
a married, childless daughter that was sick and attacked by demons. The daughter was called outside. She was very young and beautiful. We talked with her, but she refused prayer out of fear of being beaten by her husband. I talked with her for a while and told her that God is able to heal her, free her from demons, and give her a child and that she if going to be happy again. The girl said “Yes! Let’s go inside and pray!” She was touched deeply by prayer and asked about coming to church to worship Jesus."
